Current Program Activities

¨        Fresa Park Community Center:  The Housing Authority of Yamhill County celebrated

            the grand opening of the new community center to Fresa Park a 22 unit Farmworker 

            Housing project located in Dayton, Oregon.  click here for more details.

 

¨        Sandy Vista Phase II: In April 2005, Catholic Charities celebrated the grand opening

           of Sandy Vista Phase II, a 24 unit farmworker housing complex for year-round

           farmworkers in Sandy, Oregon. 

 

¨        Conferences:  The 5th biennial Farmworker Housing Asset & Property Management Conference was held at the Red Lion Hotel in Kennewick, WA on June 16th & 17th, 2005.  CASA would like to express its thanks to everyone for their support and helping this year's conference become a success.  We look forward to the next conference in 2007.

¨        Scholarships. This May CASA awarded $7,500 in college scholarships to children of farmworker families.  CASA has been operating a scholarship program since 2002.

¨        Head Start Centers.  Currently providing construction management to Head Start of Yamhill County for a new child development centers in Newberg.

¨        Virgina Garcia Memorial Health Clinic.  Currently providing construction management for the construction of a health clinic in McMinnville.

¨        Technical Assistance Program.  CASA has provided technical assistance and training opportunities to community development corporations, cities and counties throughout rural Oregon under contract with USDA Rural Housing Service, HUD, US DOL, the State of Oregon and local jurisdictions.

¨        Farmworker Housing Property Management Conference.  This two-day conference organized by CASA, brings together owners, property managers and other professionals involved in the management of farmworker housing throughout Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

¨        Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).  Certified by the US Treasury as a CDFI, CASA has more than $2 million available for predevelopment loans for affordable housing and community facility projects with a preference for projects serving farmworkers. 

¨       Valley Individual Development Accounts (VIDA).  CASA administers the IDA program for 19 community organizations throughout the Willamette Valley.  The program makes available education, support and matching grants to participants saving for a home purchase, education or business.  Four additional community organizations have recently applied to join the VIDA program.
