Farmworker Housing Tax Credit

Update - The extension of the Farmworker Housing Tax Credit is being considered as an amendment to HB 4038.  A public hearing was held on February 2, 2012.  Oregon ON, CASA of Oregon, The Oregon Farm Bureau, Oregon Tree Fruit Growers and Farmworker Housing Development Corporation testified in favor of the amendment.  While the actual text of the amendment is currently being drafted, we are told that it will provide for an extension of the credit through 2020.

A work session is planned for the bill on February 14th in the House Energy, Environment and Water Committee.  Please continue to advocate by calling your legislators and asking them to support the amendment to HB 4038 which will extend the sunset on the Farmworker Housing Tax Credit to 2020

The farmworker housing tax credit it set to sunset in 2014.  That means in legislative speak - that Oregon state will no longer fund humane housing services for some of our state's hardest workers - the farmworkers.
